Sensible Heat

Sensible heat is the term that describes when a substance absorbs or transmits heat energy during a change of temperature which is not accompanied by a change of state (Latent Heat).

In other words if you add heat to a substance and it gains 10 degrees °C in temperature.  If it has also not changed from a solid to liquid or liquid to vapour it has increased in sensible heat of 10 degrees °C.
